Tailor-made exercise programmes

Pilates is truly universal and can be done by anyone of any age, gender, body type, flexibility or physical ability. No two bodies are the same, and what might feel great to one person can sometimes feel very uncomfortable to someone else.

My approach, therefore, is to work very much in partnership with clients, working with their specific requirements to create a tailor-made programme of exercises to build strength, flexibility and, most importantly, confidence. I want to create an environment where my clients feel encouraged and supported, but never feel judged or pushed beyond what feels right for them. And, in my opinion, it has to be fun too, otherwise what’s the point?! We progress at a speed that feels manageable and exciting rather than scary and intimidating. Taking this partnership approach means we work together to get the absolute best out of your sessions and to help you move freely, with more ease and feel fantastic at the same time.

"She listens to what I need and thinks about what my body needs to tailor our sessions each week

Ali is such a great teacher - really thoughtful, warm and encouraging. Would highly recommend!"

*Although Pilates can be done by children, for insurance purposes I only teach people over the age of 18.

"My body has definitely benefited from her Pilates teaching!

I’ve had 1:1 sessions with Ali as well as doing her mat classes and she is a great teacher. Informal and fun, but always informative and professional."

Managing Aches & Pains

Throughout our lives, but especially as we age, most of us will experience aches and pains in our bodies. Many people endure these, resigning themselves to what they see as the inevitability of their physical limitations but it really doesn’t have to be like that!

Pilates can gently, consistently and incrementally build resilience so that daily aches and pains can be effectively managed or, in many cases, even be eliminated. Pilates is about mindful movement and through regular practise you will build an in-depth knowledge of how your body works, what it likes and what it needs.  Acquiring this knowledge then enables you to make adjustments, if needed, in how you live so that life becomes much more comfortable.

The knock-on positive effect of managing aches and pains on your mental wellbeing is extraordinary and many people say how much happier, more optimistic and energised they feel by doing Pilates. This is applicable to people of any age so whether you’re a stressed out parent, a busy professional chained to your desk or an elderly person trying to live independently, Pilates can make a huge difference both physically and mentally.  I am passionate about helping clients discover its far-reaching positive effects so please get in touch to see how I can help you.

Recovery & Rehabilitation

Many clients discover Pilates because their chiropractor, osteopath, or physio has suggested they give it a go. As a Pilates teacher, I work closely with these professionals and take their diagnosis and rehabilitation plans to build an exercise programme which is specific to the needs of the client.

The beauty of equipment Pilates is the variety and diversity of exercises that can be done on the various pieces of kit and there are innumerable ways that we can build strength and flexibility back if you have suffered an injury, are recovering from an operation or procedure or are dealing with an ongoing physical condition. Although the exercise programme I create for clients will address any specific rehabilitation needs, it’s really important to build strength and resilience throughout the body as a whole. This is because often an injury to one part of the body will create imbalances and potential issues in another, seemingly unrelated part. Therefore, designing a holistic programme will hopefully prevent further injury or imbalances going forward.
